Northern Ireland: consultations launched on safer working

Consultations on whistleblowing and on violence and aggression in the workplace have been launched by the Department of Health in Northern Ireland.

Both consultations invite people to express their opinions on how best to protect health and social care staff, and how to create a safe environment that allows both staff and service users to raise concerns in the public interest.

The department worked with health bodies and trade unions to develop draft policy documents that will be considered.

Health minister Robin Swann said: ‘I encourage staff working for trusts and across the health and social care system, as well as service users and patients, to fully engage with the consultation on this policy and express their views.’

The consultations opened on 27 June and will close on 26 August 2022.
