The Department of Health’s new digital strategy hopes to streamline information sharing and optimise data use to improve services and create better outcomes in Northern Ireland.
The strategy aims to develop and deliver digital services over the next eight years that will support health and social care users to get the best care. It also aims to better support staff through joined-up systems while improving the safety, quality and experience of care by optimising data usage.
Health minister Robin Swann said that the strategy will use technology to ‘provide more personalised care, including full visibility of health data and care pathways, moving towards precision medicine to identify the best approaches and care pathways for everyone’. He also said the strategy ‘illustrates the potential that exists for digital advances’.
