Sharing some key findings from the Community Practitioner 2021 readership survey.  Download the PDF, here. 

Reach and benefit

Nearly 90% of you usually pass on your copy of Community Practitioner to one or two other people

88% of you consider Community Practitioner to be a key benefit of your Unite-CPHVA membership And for 70%, the journal influenced your decision to join in the first place

1/3 of you felt the journal has been a source of support during the Covid-19 pandemic

Practical content

85% of you think the articles in Community Practitioner are clearly written and easy to understand

Almost 80%  say the journal has improved practice knowledge or understanding

Nearly ¾ think the research paper summaries in the journal and full online versions inform practice

73% have used tips and advice given in the journal at work

Practice-related content and research are important to readers, with an appetite for reflections (45% want to read more)


87% think the number of images used in the journal is about right

85% think the same for the colour scheme used

More than 9 in 10 think the journal’s design is either attractive or helps to improve the overall reader experience

Who took part

¾ of respondents work for the NHS, the majority as health visitors (59%)

The varied list of other professions included school nurses, community nursery nurses, team leaders and practice teachers

72% of you listed practice as the main function of your role

97% of respondents were female

76% a parent or carer

and just over half aged 55-64
