England: Infection prevention scheme for adult social care launched

10 January 2022

A network of adult social care infection prevention and control champions has been launched by the Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).

The aim of the champions’ network is to help maintain and improve standards across the care sector.

Lessons learned from the pandemic will be rolled out to help minimise the future spread of viral infections to protect people living in care homes and receiving home care.

The champions will share best practice through virtual meetings, a newsletter and forum.

Membership is free and open to all those in England who manage and deliver care in social care settings. Deborah Sturdy, chief nurse for adult social care, said: ‘It is vital we apply the lessons learned during the pandemic and harness the best practice developed to keep people safe in the future and connect colleagues to share their work.’
