Wales: Public Health Wales puts research at heart of strategy

09 May 2019

Two new directorates have formally been made part of the organisation structure of Public Health Wales, putting research at the heart of health strategy.

The Knowledge Directorate now comprises the Research and Evaluation and Health Intelligence divisions – including the Welsh Cancer Intelligence Surveillance Unit, Child Death Review Team, Child Measurement Programme, Congenital Anomaly Register, Knowledge Mobilisation, the Evidence Service and Observatory Analytical Team.

Transition director Sian Bolton said: ‘Research and evaluation are both absolutely critical to the delivery of our long-term strategy and strategic priorities.’

The WHO Collaborating Centre will now operate as a directorate including the Policy and International Health divisions and the Public Health Collaborating Unit at Bangor University.
