England: indoor air pollution study will look at effects on children

07 September 2018

A ground-breaking study will examine the potentially harmful impact of indoor air pollution on child health.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and the Royal College of Physicians will lead a new working group to review the evidence on pollution in the home and at school.

Professor Stephen Holgate, co-chair of the group, said: ‘Children spend 80% of their time indoors, and with increasing drives to conserve heat with the “sealing” of homes, pollution exposure indoors becomes a major issue for children’s health and development.’

The report will be published in autumn 2019.
