Anti-obesity programmes in schools don't work

12 March 2018

School-based programmes aimed at reducing obesity in children have little or no effect, a study suggests.

Researchers from the University of Birmingham carried out a trial among 1400 primary school children. A test group that took part in a 12-month healthy eating and physical activity programme had no significant difference in body mass index from a control group that did not take part in the programme.
