Parents and practitioners to share child health information

11 December 2017

Innovation in digital standards will improve the new child health records for England, and parents will have the same access to them as health and care professionals.

The Professional Records Standards Body (PRSB) information standards for the new paperless digital child health records will ensure the necessary screening tests, immunisations and developmental milestones are accessible to health and social care professionals and parents, improving care and saving time.

The standards have been developed in consultation with parents and health and care professionals, and support the Healthy Child Programme.

PRSB chair and GP, Professor Maureen Baker CBE, said: ‘Every child has the right to a healthy life and I am convinced that this new way of sharing standardised information digitally will support this goal by enabling safer and more efficient care, as well as better support for children and their families.’
