Solent NHS Trust would like to invite enthusiastic and motivated Health Visitors to become part of the 0 – 19 Integrated Public Health Nursing workforce to deliver the Healthy Child Programme to children and families across Southampton City.

The successful candidate will be delivering our established Enhanced Child Health Visiting Offer (ECHO) which is part of a new and innovative approach to early help and prevention.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to further develop skills within Public Health Nursing as well as maximize the contribution of the six High Impact Areas. The Health Visiting Teams are part of the Integrated 0-19 Early Help and Prevention Service and work in partnership and collaboratively with our Local Authority and NSPCC colleagues to meet the needs of our children in the City. The Public Health Nursing workforce is committed to finding creative ways to provide timely and effective interventions to make a positive difference to the lives of children and their families.

Development of staff is one of our key priorities and we are proud of our extensive training offer which includes: Solihull Training, the Parent and Child Game, Building Blocks NSPCC Training Programme, Outcome Star, ECAT, Speech,Language and Communication, as well as bespoke ECHO master classes which focus on key areas such as Perinatal Infant Mental Health & Attachment, substance Misuse and Domestic Abuse. We also have the additional benefit of frequent supervision from the Perinatal Mental Health Specialists and CAMHS psychotherapists which complement our robust clinical supervision offer. As a service we believe this promotes a positive culture of reflection and continuous learning.

We are looking for creative and motivated health visitors who are keen to work with us to embed our new service model in the delivery of the Health Child Programme (HCP). The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be flexible and have the ability to implement new and exciting interventions to improve positive outcomes for our children and families. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills are essential personal attributes alongside the ability to quickly gain a good rapport with people from a range of backgrounds, promoting inclusiveness and collaboration.

Solent NHS is an innovative and creative Trust which has adapted to the unprecedented times of COVID-19 though the introduction of new media platforms whilst maintaining face to face contacts (using PPE) for essential visits. We are proud as a Health Visiting Service that we have been able to continue to offer the Five Mandated Contactsduring COVID-19 to ensure that every child gets the best possible start in life.
